Principles of Design

 

Repetition

  • Students will create a collage using repetition. (20)
  • Subject matter chosen should be easily recognized as the focus of the work. (20)
  • Composition should look complete. (20)
  • Students must cut all the background off of the subject matter they are using. (20)
  • The composition must look organized in some way, even if it is a random arrangement. (10)
  • Gluing should be clean. (10)

Movement

Rhythm

  • Students will draw 7-15 dots on their page using pencil. (20)
  • They will connect these dots using curved lines. (20)
  • They will fill their paper with this repeating motif. (20)
  • Students will then add color using colored pencil pressing harder near the dots to create a more three-dimensional effect. (20)

  • Craftsmanship should be considered when drawing and adding color. (20)
