Marion Faller

When we visited the Burchfield Penney Art Center we viewed the work of Marion Faller.  One of the techniques she used was using her photographs in order to create a quilt-like composition.

For our next project we will be cutting and reassmbling photographs in unique and interesting ways.  This project is very open-ended to allow for your interests and creativty to show.

Here are your criteria:

  1. Select photos that fit a theme of your choice.
    1. You may use photos pulled from the internet.
    2. Bonus points will be given for taking your own new photos.
  2. Edit them to enhance the composition.
    1. Some examples are:
      1. Multi-color = increase/decrease saturation
      2. B&W w 1 color = brightness/contrast, saturation
      3. Abstract = use filters
      4. One photo = various versions with different colors/sizes/contrast/etc
  3. Plan and execute a design that brings your photos together.
  4. Be sure it is well-crafted; clean cuts, clean glue.

Here are some examples:

By the end of class Monday 5/4/15:

  • Have Color Wheel printed
  • Select you theme for the collage.

BY THE END OF CLASS Tuesday 5/5/15:

BY THE END OF CLASS Wednesday 5/6/15:

  • Have photos for collage resized and printed

Google the artist “Seung Hoon Park” for exmaples of woven photos if you would like to try that technique.

eSD STEM + Art Contest

 

To All eSchoolData Clients:   
eSD is excited to announce the first annual eSchoolData Login Page Art contest. The contest is regional and will include all eSD Districts in the WNYRIC region.Current high school and middle school students are eligible to participate and the theme of the inaugural contest is STEM+Art.  Entries can either be a scanned drawing or photograph and should reflect how art is incorporated into science, technology, engineering or mathematics.  Submissions will be accepted in digital format from April 15th , 2015 until June 5th, 2015.  Images must be in JPEG format, with a minimum DPI of 72 and a minimum size of 1920 x 1080 (width x height) pixels.

All submissions must have the entry forms in order to be considered.


The prize amounts are as follows:

First Place = $500
Second Place = $200
Third Place = $100
Honorable Mention (4) = $50/each
