Choose 1 photo that you think is very strong. Write a paragraph (at least 10 sentences) explaining why you think so. Use the handouts on the elements, principles and photography that are in your binders.
Do not say “because I think it is pretty.” Use art vocabulary (contrast, emphasis, color, movement, etc).
I chose the “Sea of Nets” because the bright blue really stands out. The red, pink, and light pink also really make it stand out. It gives it a nice emphasis. I think it could use more colors. Or another shade of purple or blue. Theres not enough shades in it. Or even add orange. Can also add a green into it. Other than that it really stands out and its a really nice photo.
“Sea of Nets”
I choose this photo because i think it is strong and perfectly executed. This photo has amazing contrast with the blue nets and the people in it. Also the clothes the people are wearing contrast good with each other too, like the light purple under the dark purple with the blue background. The color choice in this picture is also really good. For the nets, you can tell that there is movement in them and this picture shows that extremely well. In this photo, there is a lot of balance also. Your eyes are constantly moving around and never are focused on one specific thing. There is also a lot of emphases on the people standing in the middle of the blue sea of nets. The person who took this incorporated a lot of harmony and mood too. You can tell this person added rhythm tot he blue sea of nets and it reflected this persons thoughts at the time very well.
i chose the picture or the tilted house. i chose it because its up to you to decide what happen. it leaves a mystery, and leaves you to ask questions. questions like.. is it real or fake? is it still standing like that now? or what happend to it? so i chose it because it is intresting and different to me.
“Smoky Show”
This picture stands out to me first because the use of the colors. The purple smoke stands out the most because it’s right in the center and the rest of the picture is mostly black. Another thing that stands out is the biker in the middle. The image isn’t blurry at all even though there was obviously some movement happening while the picture was being taken. The lighting also has an impact on it, because of how it helps focus on the main idea which is the person on the bike. The lighting helps to make that particular thing stand out the most by almost blurring out the background with using dark colors to focus on the specific item that has color. The picture isn’t angled, which means that the whole thing is centered and looking at it doesn’t get confusing. The colors are vibrant and definitely stand out right from the beginning. You can tell that when the picture was being taken there was a lot of energy in the room. Overall the picture is almost perfect, and stands out really well.
I chose the picture of the tilted house because the tilt makes it look cool on the hill. The guy in the picture looks like he is stranded. The picture makes people wonder where is was taken because there’s only one house and it looks like it’s in the middle of nowhere. The snow makes it look cool.
I think this photo is very strong because, it’s really clear to see. It has nice colors, and contrast. I like that it focuses on the two animals in the photo. It makes you wonder where it was taken, because of the snow. The snow adds something extra to the photo.

This photo is a powerful photo because it shows you no matter how big your opponent is you can always out run them in your own advantages that your opponent doesn’t have. Horrible tragedy’s can lead a person down but sometimes tragedy’s can also be beautiful be cause it leads you to a light that brings the best of you out and you can become stronger like the bird in this picture its flying away from the wolf that is trying to eat it and it can be smart and not go to the direction that he almost had his life taking away from him he became stronger and smarter from his mistakes.
“Brother Bears”
This photo is two baby bears in the middle of the woods, maybe brother and brother or brother and sister. I like this photo because the texture in the photo of the baby bears looks super soft. Also the colors that are on the baby bears really stand out. The photo also shows that there is alot of space around the bears. There is a variety of different things in the picture the grass, trees etc. Meaning there is alot of different designs going on in the photo. The unity of the photo is really set on the bears which completes the photo all together.
“After the Rain”
This picture of the lizard and the leaf is really strong. The lizard has many details in its skin/ scales and the claws on him show more detail, and the leaf has good detail. In this picture you could see it all and I personally like that. I like how the picture is all black in the background and it sort of looks blurred. The lizard on the leaf if focused on and you could see the raindrops on it. The raindrops arent spotted out right away but once you spot them they are good detail on the lizard. The colors on the lizard make it pop because there is only green and whitish yellow so the brown adds alittle more to the picture. The photographer took the photo at the best moment because the lizard is looking at the camera which I find super cool. The hole in the leaf from when a bug ate it give the leaf more detail and color too. All in all this picture is very strong.

“Light Trails”
In the picture the blue highlights the darkness of the streets. Under the streets are shadows that contrast the lighter colors. You can see the depth in the picture due to the streets being elevated. The streets have a repetition of lines and circles. There is a variety of different lines and cirlces with different sizes. There is a lot of movement throughout the artwork. The blue emphasizes the streets. The dotted lines are all different shapes and sizes on the streets. You can see the street lights. You can also see a pop of red in the corner
