WEDNESDAY NOVEMBER 12, 2014

Today we were grouped into teams of 3, 4 or 5 and we  did a team-building exercise with our new group members.

THURSDAY NOVEMBER 13, 2014

Today we worked on developing one of the ides that we brainstormed for our toy design.

Objectives

  • Finish brainstorming a design for a toy.

Essential Question

  • How can an artist refine their ideas in order to make them stronger?

Focusing Task (5 min)

  • Get sketchbook and review your toy design brainstorm ideas.

Guided Practice (15 min)

  • Teacher will review the project.
  • Students will take 30 sec to share all of their ideas back and forth with their shoulder partner.
    • Timed pair share:  Student A shares 1st idea for 30 sec, student B shares 1st idea for 30 sec.  Then they share the 2nd and 3rd ideas in the same manner.
    • Students will then help each other decide which is their strongest idea and choose what they would like to continue developing.

Learning Activity (20 min)

  • Students will work to develop the back story for their design.
  • Students should develop:
    • Name
    • A personality/characteristics/mannerisms/quirks/behaviors
    • A place where they live
    • Favorite things
    • Things they don’t like
    • Friends & enemies
    • What their power/abilities are
    • Most striking feature (emphasis)
    • Vocabulary/key phrases/speech
    • Strengths & weaknesses
    • What would the character want to be remembered for?
    • Biggest goal

Closure (3 min)

  • Ask your partner a question on a design feature that you are having trouble with.

FRIDAY NOVEMBER 14, 2014

 Today we continued to develop our characters and then worked on a line design project.

Your task:

  1. Finish character development activity from yesterday’s class.
  2. Work on line design project:  Line Design Directions
